Meet Andreas Björklund

Andreas Björklund is one of the founders of North Point Securities. Below you can read a short interview with Andreas about his career in corporate finance and how he views the market and the future.

What does your background look like?

I am a trained lawyer and economist and have worked with corporate finance since 1998. Initially, I started working at the Nordic Fund Commission and was later offered a job at Öhman Fondkommission in 2004. After a short stay at the Finnish Evli Bank, I then became responsible for Remium's corporate finance- department at the beginning of 2013. In 2016 I moved to London and started working as a consultant in corporate finance for Swedish companies. In connection with this, I came into contact with the other founders of North Point Securities and we decided to start our own business.

What are your strengths as a financial advisor?

My main strength is the transaction experience. As I have managed a large number of transactions, it is rarely the first time that I am faced with a particular problem. Over the years, they have also managed to build up a network in the industry as well as a knowledge of what types of transaction structures work given the current market climate.

How do you complement the transaction team at North Point?

I work with new sales on the issuer side as well as support the production team and ensure the quality of the work. I also partly work with investor contacts.

What is your ambition with North Point Securities?

The ambition is to try to build an investment bank positioned slightly below the larger market players in terms of transaction size, but which can be compared with them in terms of the quality of the work. But Rome wasn't built in a day; right now we are very happy to be a corporate finance boutique.

How do you see the future of both North Point and the market?

In recent years, the capital market has been very strong, which has resulted in a large number of new listed companies. It has also meant that it has been relatively easy to find both issuers and investors. Going forward, I believe that the number of transactions will decrease in combination with the fact that it may become more difficult to find the capital. This may increase the demands on the financial advisors, which I believe can benefit North Point with our clear focus on quality and the client's best interest.
